“Ignacio Herrera, Spanish Governor of Cuba, was elevated to the rank of Marques. To commemorate this honor, he ordered from Canton in 1843 a substantial service, decorated with his new crest. The inscription reads: Exmo Sor Marques de Almendares. Knowing the date of the order, we know for certain when this border, decorated with fans and pairs of pheasants, was produced.”
